Any Plus In Watching Plus?!

400 B.C, it was custom among Greeks to organize drama in rituals and festivals. Renowned playwrights were asked to present their creations, each writer had to represent three tragedies under the term triology. The drama was executed on large scale in opera with an open invitation to the people from all walks of life. The main objective of this activity was to impart knowledge in terms of religion, ethics, norms, cultural values; heroic deeds of their ancestors were revealed with full dignity and grandeur.

Today, in twenty 21st century era, when we hold remote of hundred channels, most of the fingers stick to only one and keep on trying to increase the clutch, until someone else is able to snatch. Almost in each family this kind of fight over remote can be observed, where females want to watch none other than STAR PLUS, the most happening one; why? Perhaps no one can answer this simple question. Star freaks are so much absorbed in these soaps (entertainment in insta llments) that they cant live without; neither they get boredom nor lose patience. Sometimes it becomes an irritation to sit in front of screen watching these thirty minutes soaps at stretch, a kind of dose becoming an addiction day by day. Regarding merits and demerits we find the characters neither flat nor round, indulging in unethical activities, that excite, ignite and tempt youngsters to great extent.

The issue of illegitimate child and unwed mother is common in every second story; prevalence of illicit relations being the spice of whole recipe reflect deterioration of social values in stages. In every tale, a woman protagonist is dominating and manipulating others consistently and her counterpart man is bound to obey her in each matter. Male characters sit idly at home all the daylong, busy in resolving domestic disputes, being indulge in family politics we see them confronting and arguing over trivial issues; on the other hand their huge business empires are run by some invisible magical hands,

Hardly we see any professional attitude in their conversation and body language rather they seem mere emotional fools. Dialogues often dont suit with their emergence. Each parivar is shown as business tycoon without struggling, striving or putting an effort into work life. Each person talks about a deal of 100 krore and a tender of 700 krore, only the hero gets these gigantic tenders leaving behind all his competent rivals, who might be more capable than him.

And sometimes this undefeated hero loses all the fortune incidentally, comes down on road in a very miserable plight. Even after this drastic financial collapse he puts on the same stylish clothes and accessories. In one episode, protagonists family members accuse himher of all the calamity, agony and suffering they are facing, throw himher out of their dwelling place and in the next episode all the misunderstandings, conflicts, clashes get resolved, all of sudden they begin to shower their compassion, sympathy and love on their beloved sondaughter, that happens repeatedly without any logical or causal link.

Every now & then we see main characters facing misfortunes, experiencing tragedies, undertaking series of co incidents, living in future, brooding over past almost oblivious of their present. pooja and arti are the favourite activities of women, they feel much delight in fasting for their husbands life every fortnight, arranging religious events twice a week, shedding tears on every changing moment, giving long speeches replete with references from their historical epics like Mahabharata and Ramayana, portray themselves as their ancient goddesses Saraswati, Paarvati, Lakshmi, and Durga etc , seem quite away from the real life human beings, unable we are to identify with themselves.

A vampire plays a vital role in each drama, who traps everyone in her charms, uses them for her personal interest and treats them as sheer puppets in her fingers. In the beginning, evils look like devils, neither they go through nemesis nor they face the music of their sinister deeds, they feel no guilt or regret, completely ignorant to the pangs of conscience. Suddenly we locate extremely wicked persons converting into saint-like nobles and vice versa.

Play usually lasts for years and years that factor influence the plot and theme to an extent. Just for the sake of sponsorships through ad-films, the channel has to compromise on quality, thought, plot, theme, essential ingredients and parameters of drama set by classic literature over centuries around the globe. It has become theatre of absurd owing to its farce, ludicrous and boisterous tragedies which seem tragii comedies indeed. Simultaneously has lost its status regarding mirror to 21st century society, rather inculcating social values, deviating masses from their culture.

Talking about the brighter side of these endless tragedies where we witness characte rs roaming around splendid, gorgeous sets in a very pleasant ambiance. SP has set the trend of spectacle (stage settings), which is made in accordance with aesthetic requirements of viewers. Despite all this, repetition of backgrounds occur in different plays of the same channel, because behind every project there is the same art director, stylist, concept writer, visualizer, and the cast. Background music is often too loud to tolerate. Progress in the field of plastic surgery has helped the stars of plus a lot because repeatedly they have to rush in order to change their visage entirely, after an accident, this Face Off therapy proves an exile for one character and becomes the cause of new entry for model cum actor who, with his unique performance changes completely the faade of serial and becomes the reason of downfall.

Always a house wife is seen in party dress while staying at home, nevertheless women are keen to watch these stereotype figures on screen, dreaming themselves in those gaudy outfits, loaded with jewels, gems and pearls. This kind of fantasy proves a relief to every next-door girlwoman; such world of imagination takes them far away from their daily hectic routine life in the form of an escape. Time leaves no consequences on these characters, as they look awfully young even, after the breach of two decades. Their minor activities draw full attention of media and press as they are often chased by reporters anchors.

On the other hand this channel lacks in thought, spirit and motivation, although a major source of penetration but giving no message at all.

Hardly we get any female character doing some valuable work outdoors or participating actively for some noble cause or society; rather she is busy all the time in family politics either +vly or vly. Different fields and outlets have never been touched whereas, in this era woman is performing lots of other duties besides household activities, but on screen she i s depicted as mere source of amusement, is confined only to drawing rooms, ball rooms and bars. Even on work place she is draped in glitzy dress and loud makeup. All these aspects show limited range of the story line as middle and lower classes remain untouched. Superstition plays a key role because most of the titles start with letter K and this phenomenon also prevails throughout due to its existence in the sub conscious of all the participants. Drama being a form of Catharsis gives vent to pent up feelings and emotions. It is said that the excitement of tragedy provides a safe outlet for our feelings, which we cannot express in actual life. But it demands its appropriate and necessary requirements that provide a soul to an ideal play, which is an imitation not only of a complete action but also of incidents arousing pity and fear. Magnitude i-e the proper length of a tragic play is essential:

It must be a whole story, not a collection of incidents.

Apart from this a good play must have Prologue (beginning), middle and Exode (end). It should have good reason for beginning where it does and for ending where it does.

Antique TV

Just about everything has a value and that value is ever changing. When something is in plentiful supply then it is not valued very highly. As it becomes less plentiful, so its value increases. As well as everyday commodities, this can also be applied to antiques. A bedside cabinet, a vase, or just about any object will lose value from the day it is first made. It loses value as it becomes older as it is deemed to be of a lower quality than a newly made version. Then, a curious thing happens. When this object reaches a certain age, assuming it is still intact, its value increases through the passage of time and eventually becomes an artefact or an antique. The art of dealing in antiques is to spot this crossover point, the point at which the object changes from being old and jaded to being valued as a rare relic of the past.

This doesn't only apply to tangible objects. It also applies to more abstract things such as music and plays. We may have been battered by a pop tune that was constantly played on the radio a few years ago. After a few weeks we may have had enough of it. The tune would have become stale. Then, after several years we might happen to hear it again and along with it memories of whatever we happened to be doing when it was in vogue. The same goes for old Tv shows. Some may have seemed mundane at the time. Truth is, that some probably were mundane to many of us. All the same, we will often look back in affection at even the most ordinary of Tv shows from years ago. As media is changing almost beyond recognition, those old pioneering Tv shows are becoming an ever rarer commodity. Perhaps we have now reached that crossover point when old Tv shows from the 50's and 60's are going from old and unwanted to rare and sought after.

Many recordings of old Tv shows are indeed rare. I'm afraid there isn't one central library of pristine recordings of these shows. Film, VHS and DVD copies of these rarities can turn up from any corner, in an attic here, or a forgotten company stockroom there. Many have never survived, especially from the early 1960's and earlier. Many more were never recorded in the first place. Most early Tv shows were made live to air, even plays. Others were recorded on tape only to be recorded over by a newer show. Oddly enough, many Tv shows went out live and were filmed or recorded so that the sponsors and directors could review it. Once they were done with it the recording it was discarded or wiped. Some film of old Tv shows were lost in a fire, or disposed of because of fire risk, or may have degraded and rotted away. From the late 1960's onwards, Tv shows were more likely to be kept more safely as video became less costly and more shows were recorded anyway. What remains is a demand for Tv show recordings that is steadily growing through the passage of time. What is certain is there are still old recordings of Tv shows out there that are yet undiscovered. If you know of any, please email mail@bygone Tv.com

It is not just the older generation that are interested in these shows. Younger people are increasingly curious about how life was in those days. Television has been a big part of U.S. culture for many years. We all know about our family history. We know the highlights: births, death, marriages etc. What youngsters find it hard to understand is the everyday existence of past generations and not just the big occasions. We are now at the point where Tv itself was a significant part of that existence. Old Tv show recordings are not only curiosities in their own right, they are also documentary evidence of what life was like from day to d ay. Some shows reflect everyday life, albeit, in most cases, a Hollywood glitzy version. A real insight into the way we were is the Tv commercials and sponsorship messages. If you are planning to obtain any old recordings of Tv shows, try to get those that are recorded as transmitted. The quality will not always be the highest, but the commercials and message of the time will give the recording an added dimension.

A example of a Tv show that is now very rare is Bachelor Father. It is a sit uation comedy that first aired in 1957, starring John Forsythe. In Bachelor Father he played the part of Bentley Gregg, a wealthy bachelor who suddenly finds himself having to raise his niece after her parents are killed in an auto accident. Sammee Tong played his reliable but beleaguered manservant, Peter. This was quite a gentle comedy and certainly did not have a high laugh-per-minute rate. One very interesting aside regarding these old television shows is what happened to the stars. In the case of Bachelor Father, John Forsythe later went on to become the character of Blake Carrington in the 1980's iconic soap opera, Dynasty. He is now retired. Noreen Corcoran, who played his niece, switched into theater management and Sammee Tong committed suicide in 1964.

Old Tv shows are part of our history and heritag e. I wonder how long it will be before you will see a DVD section in an antique shop?

How Do Online Movie Rental Plans Work

There are more than a few online Movie rental plans available these days. The number of DVD Movies that you are permitted to have out at a time establishes the price of the plan. To clarify how this works, we will presume that you have joined a plan that allows for 3 DVD Movies to be out at a time. This is the most common arrangement but all other plans will work as well for any online Movie rentals.

When you initially join the plan online, you will decide between 3 Movies that you want to see. These online Movies will be mailed to you right away. After you watch the first DVD, you will send it back in the postage paid envelope that arrives when you received the Movie. Watch the second Movie and return it the same way.

When online, you will continue a list of flicks that you want to see. When your Movie rental club picks up your first rental, they will mail you the next Movie on your list. The second Movie on your list will be sent to you when they receive the second dvd back. Keep track of what Movie rentals are at the top of your que because these will be the ones that will be sent to you next.

If for some reason, your Movie is not currently available, be patient, and dont move them to the bottom. You will soon claim this title as soon as its available for rent.

Remember that the delivery time for your DVD rental Movies will vary depending on how far you are from your rental company distribution centers. So, consider this distance factor when you select the company for your rentals.

Most online rental companies have more than one plan and you can modify it later if you first selection is not closely accurate. Cancelling your plan and signing up with a new rental club is also an option if things don't work for yourself. You can also complement your plan by using the local rental store when necessary.

Usually your flicks will be in your mailbox within 2 to 5 days after it is dispatched. Being close to the origination point ought to make your wait time shorter for any online Movie rental plan.

Taxi (Season 3) DVD Review

With its biting humor and eccentric characters, Taxi is widely lauded as one of the top sitcoms in television history. The brainchild of James L. Brooks, whose golden touch played a role in such hits as The Andy Griffith Show, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and The Simpsons, Taxi continues to entertain and gather generations of new fans through syndicated reruns. With a superb cast and great writers, the show introduced the world to the comedic talents of Hollywood mainstays like Danny DeVito, Tony Danza, Marilu Henner, Christopher Lloyd, and Andy Kaufman.

Taxi follows the daily operations of the Sunshine Cab Company, a New York City taxi service run by tyrannical dispatcher Louie De Palma (Danny DeVito). De Palmas self-centered sarcastic remarks are often dispensed from the safety of his pathetically small office in the corner of the body shop, while various employees like Alex Reiger (Judd Hirsch), Tony Banta (Danza), and Elaine Nardo (Henner) socialize and plot agains t their common enemy. Add foreign mechanic Latka Gravas (Kaufman) to the mix and all the ingredients are in place for hours of endless laughter. As the characters deal with problems of varying degree in their personal lives, the audience is treated to some of the best comedy ever produced for the small screen.

Seinfeld (Season 5) DVD Review

The preeminent show of the 1990's decade, Seinfeld grew from an idea of a show about nothing into a sacred pop culture icon, not that there's anything wrong with that... The show follows the life of comedian Jerry Seinfeld and the exploits of his short, quirky, bald guy best friend, George Costanza (Jason Alexander), Jerry's neurotic neighbor Cosmo Kramer (Michael Richards), and Jerry's ex-girlfriend Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Through the years, they're joined by a loveable cast of characters that includes Newman, Uncle Leo, the Soup Nazi, Frank and Estelle Costanza, the Bubble Boy, and countless others

Following on the heels of Season 4, arguably the best season ever (with famous episodes such as The Bubble Boy, The Contest, The Pick, The Junior Mint, The Handicap Spot, and The Pilot), Season 5 offers its own case for Seinfeld immortality with episodes like The Puffy Shirt (a.k.a. The Pirate Shirt), The Stall (can you spare a square?), The Marine Biologist (or is it The Architect?), The Hamptons (there was significant shrinkage!), and The Opposite (George's newfound religion)...

The Seinfeld (Season 5) DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere The Mango in which Jerry discovers that Elaine faked it during the time they went out. Determined to redeem himself, he begs Elaine for another shot. Meanwhile, Kramer gets banned from his favorite fruit vendor when he attempts to return a bad peach Other notable episodes from Season 5 include The Hamptons in which Jerry's girlfriend accidentally sees George naked following his swim in a cold pool (which caused him to shrink like a frightened turtle), and The Opposite in which George decides that every decision he's ever made in life was the wrong one, and from now on, he'll do the exact opposite of what his instincts tell him to do
